Siempre quiso ser ilustrador, y prefer\u00eda mirar las fotos y dibujos del interior de los libros en lugar de leerlos. A los 15 a\u00f1os entr\u00f3 en la Escuela Superior de Arte de Praga y estuvo trabajando dos a\u00f1os en una agencia oficial de publicidad. Luego estudi\u00f3 seis a\u00f1os en la Academia de Bellas Artes de Praga, donde conoci\u00f3 a su mujer, con quien se mud\u00f3 a vivir a Inglaterra. Empez\u00f3 a trabajar en libros para ni\u00f1os cuando naci\u00f3 su primera hija y desde entonces no ha parado. Varios de sus libros han sido galardonados con premios como el Best Children\u2019s Book of the <em>Year del Washington Post<\/em>, por el libro <em>La oca boba<\/em>, y el Picture Book of the <em>Year de Holanda<\/em>, por <em>Una casa a la medida<\/em>, ambos libros publicados por Editorial Juventud. Des de petit que volia ser il\u00b7lustrador, i preferia mirar les fotografies i dibuixos de l\u2019interior dels llibres en lloc de llegir-los. Quan tenia 15 anys va entrar a l\u2019Escola Superior d\u2019Art de Praga i va estar treballant dos anys en una ag\u00e8ncia oficial de publicitat i disseny. Despr\u00e9s va estudiar sis anys a l\u2019Acad\u00e8mia de Belles Arts de Praga, on va con\u00e8ixer la seva dona, amb qui es va traslladar a viure a Anglaterra. Va comen\u00e7ar a treballar en llibres per a nens quan va n\u00e9ixer la seva primera filla i des de llavors no ha parat. Ha estat guardonat amb diversos premis, com el Best Children\u2019s Book of the Year per <em>Washington Post<\/em>, pel llibre <em>L\u2019oca ruca<\/em>, o el Picture Book of the Year d\u2019Holanda, per <em>Una casa a la mida<\/em>; ambd\u00f3s llibres publicats per Editorial Joventut.
